Itinerary
Whitehorse
We'll greet you at Whitehorse airport and transfer you to the hotel in downtown location. In the afternoon you have time to explore the many sights and to do the last shopping. In the evening you will meet the group and we will discuss the tour routing. Your guide will introduce himself and gives substantial introduction to wilderness rules and canoeing techniques at the beginning and during the tour.
Whitehorse to Watson Lake
After breakfast we will drive 450 km south on the Alaska Highway (Hwy 1) to Watson Lake. Here you will have an opportunity to explore the famous Sign Post Forest and visit the local visitor reception centre.
To Hugo Lake
In the morning we will board a floatplane and fly over stunning mountains to Hugo Lake. This is truly a spectacular part of the Canadian wilderness being largely untouched by humans! Have your camera and plenty of film ready. Upon arrival we unload our gear and our guide will review paddling skills. After a short portage we arrive at the headwater of the Beaver River.
Canoeing the Beaver River
The Beaver River begins its journey high in the Logan Mountains in the southeast Yukon. It travels through the oldest and richest boreal forest in the territory, carving through two canyons, picking up the warmth of hot springs, feeding large wetland complexes and then emptying into the Liard River.
Return to Watson Lake / Whitehorse
From our Rendezvous Point we will fly by floatplane back to Watson Lake. From there we drive to Whitehorse on the Alaska Highway.
