January

Haines Junction, Snowmobile Poker Run
A three to four hour return snow machine trip from Haines Junction to Bear Creek Summit. Starts at noon Weather dependent.

Whitehorse, Fulda Challenge
Teams from all over the world compete. The challengers struggle through the tough Canadian wilderness while competing in various kinds of extreme competitions. The merciless route makes its way from Skagway, Alaska via Whitehorse straight through the entire Yukon to the Arctic Circle.

Whitehorse, Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race
The Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race runs between Whitehorse, Yukon and Fairbanks, Alaska. Following historic gold rush routes and mail delivery trails from the turn of the 20th century, this race awakens the true northern spirit every February. One human and 14 canine marathon athletes work as a team traveling independently through pristine northern wilderness, during the depths of the subarctic winter for 10 to 14 days. Experience the excitement of the Yukon Quest in person. Come north and be a part of the 2006 race in Dawson City, or experience the anticipation of the finish line in Whitehorse. Welcome these amazing dog teams as they complete their 1000-mile (1610 km) journey over the Yukon Quest trail.

Whitehorse, The Yukon Arctic
The Yukon Arctic Ultra is the world's coldest and toughest marathon and ultra for runners, mountain bikers and cross-country skiers. New in 2006: apart from the marathon, 100 and 300-mile (161 and 483-km) races, we now also offer a race all the way from Whitehorse to Dawson City. We have added the discipline of skijoring! The YAU takes place on the Yukon Quest trail, the trail of the "world's toughest sled dog race."

Whitehorse, Frostbite Music Festival
Three nights and two days of multiple musical genres under the northern lights.
This event hosts a multitude of emerging and established Canadian and Yukon musical acts, and features concerts, dances, workshops, a kids' festival and a youth stage. The first and only winter music festival in Western Canada.

Dawson City International Short Film Festival
Dawson City's film festival has been growing each year since its inception in 1999. Last year's film festival screened over 65 films from around the world.

Dawson City, Percy DeWolfe Memorial Mail Race
A 210-mile (338.1 km), mid-distance dogsled race following the Yukon River trail from Dawson City, Yukon, to Eagle, Alaska, and returning on a historic mail route used by Percy De Wolfe for 35 years. Stats at 10:00 a.m. in front of the old post office in Dawson where Percy departed  A 40-mile (64.4 km) junior race starts at 12 p.m. The Saturday night wrap-up banquet is open to everyone.

Haines Junction, Silver Sled Dog Race
This event consists of a two-day, 100-mile (161 km) race to Silver City and back, two 15-mile (24 km) sprint races, one day of skijoring, and a one-dog weight-pull contest.

Whitehorse, Celebration of Swans
This unique festival offers you great viewing of thousands of swans and other waterbirds on their spring migration. Bird viewing, special activities and presentations fill the week.

Watson Lake Music Festival Society hosts a weekend featuring a variety of music and events with the focus on young adults and families. This exciting time takes place over the May long weekend.

Haines Junction, Alsek Music Festival
Three days of the best in Yukon music under the majestic St. Elias Mountains. Three stages, kids' events, adult dances - an outdoor event for the whole family

Haines Junction, Klaune Bike Relay
Bike relay from Haines Junction to Haines Alaska. Eight-person, four-person, two-person and solo teams Race is 148 miles (238.28 km) with eight legs.

Mayo, Midnight Marathon
Marathon race also includes a 10km walk or run, 1/2 marathon walk or run, T-shirts and breakfast for participants. Great fun to run at midnight Begins at 11:45 p.m.

Dawson City, Birding Festival
Birds around in this region in early June, and this is the weekend to see them. Bring your camping gear, binoculars and hiking boots as naturalists, bird enthusiasts and biologists lead trips in all directions over three days. We'll explore the highway area, river valley and alpine places. Meet at Tombstone Territorial Park Interpretive Centre, Km 71.4 on the Dempster Highway

Whitehorse, Hours of Light Bike Marathon
In Whitehorse solo cyclists and teams of all ages and experience race for fun and prizes on the forested trails around Mt. McIntyre. The winner - the team that does the most laps in the time allotted. Sunday afternoon award presentation for the winners, racers with the best lap times and teams with the most spirit.

Whitehorse, Yukon River Quest Canoe/Kayak Race
The Yukon River Quest is the longest canoe and kayak race in the world, drawing expert and novice paddlers from many countries in tandem canoes and kayaks, solo kayaks and voyageur canoes on the history-rich Yukon River. Starts in Whitehorse's Main Street with a Le Mans style run to the boats and finishes in Dawson City.

Two - 18-hole tournaments; 10:00 a.m. stroke play and a 6:30 p.m. four-person scramble. Visitors always welcome!

Dawson City, Gold Panning Championship
Annual competitions open to "cheechakos" and professionals from the Yukon and around the world, with time trials and finals. Part of the Dawson City Canada Day celebrations. Visitors are welcome to enter.

Join us at Diamond Tooth Gerties for an afternoon of entertainment, cancan, and BBQ for the whole family and visitors too!

Dawson City Riverside Arts Festival 
Arts, crafts, music, dancing, and theatre abound during three days and evenings of interactive arts events and performances. All of it takes place on the sunny banks of the Yukon River during Dawson's Discovery Days weekend. Over 30 visual artists from the around the north sell and demonstrate their art in open-air tents, while offering one-on-one instruction and group workshops.

Whitehorse, Yukon International Storytelling Festival
A multicultural and multi-national gathering of storytellers, the festival is a showcase of story through dance, song, and traditional forms. The third largest of its kind in the world, this festival is not to be missed.

Whitehorse, Klondike Harvest Fair
The largest showcase of Yukon grown and Yukon made.  A country fair displaying the vegetables and flowers of Yukon gardens, the farm crops and produce, crafts, baking preserves, wines, and a range of cottage industry products. Includes livestock competitions, midway, concessions, family games, and an auction of prize-winning goodies on Sunday afternoon. The Klondyke Harvest Fair is the wind-up festival of the summer!

September

Dawson City, Klondike International Outhouse Race
If you don't happen to own one, that's okay - we can rent one to you! Teams race and perform a scavenger hunt in decorated outhouses on wheels through the streets of Dawson City. Arrive to the finish in speed or style.

Watson Lake, Terry Fox Run

Whitehorse, Klondike Trail of ‘98
The race begins in Skagway, Alaska and follows the Trail of the Gold Rush Stampeders over the famous White Pass through British Columbia finishing in Whitehorse along the banks of the Yukon River. Teams of 6 - 10 participants run in various categories over paved highways throughout the night and into the next day.
