From Whitehorse we drive on the Alaska Highway towards Haines Junction. The Highway offers spectacular mountain vistas with exhibits and viewpoints of Mount Kennedy, Mount Hubbard and peaks in the Icefield Ranges in the interior of the Kluane National Park. In the vicinity of the Donjek River bridge, other peaks in these ranges can be seen - Mount Steele, Mount Wood and Mount Walsh. We drive 20 km south of Haines Junction to beautiful Kathleen Lake where we get settled in our cozy log cabins. From here we daily hike in different directions into the park. You will be astonished with the utterly wild and remarkable country you’re immersed in. Of the many highlights to be seen, the hiking trails "Kings Throne" and the "Auriol Trail" are a must. The Auriol Trail is one of Kluane's cut trails, which starts in spruce and aspen forest and branches into a loop after 2 km. The trail climbs up to the sub-alpine where we enjoy soon a scenic view of Haines Junction and the surrounding area. We cross a few creeks and reach the peaks of the Auriol Range. Back at the cabins we enjoy a delicious dinner and relax by the warmth of the campfire.

The Yukon is also a paradise for non-fishing travel companions. For nature lovers. the warm, dry climate is ideal for a variety of outdoor activities. The Lodge is surrounded by a network of hiking trails leading into the National Park, which can also be explored on the Lodge’s own mountain-bikes. Lodge-owned canoes are banked on various mountain lakes, inviting guests to embark on a tranquil excursion over the crystal-clear water. And many of the expeditions into the wilds are not only planned for anglers. One special adventure, for instance, is a trip on the 4-wheelers to the log cabin at Frederick Lake.
Besides the fabulous fishing, you are likely to spot moose, bears, eagles, beavers and much more wildlife. Or set off in a off-road vehicle to Mush and Bates Lakes and enjoy the scenery from the Lodge’s own motorboat and canoe. You can also rent a car and plan your own exciting excursion. A really impressive drive takes you over the coastal mountain range to Haines/Alaska!
