About Inconnu Wilderness Lodge
|
 |
|
The fishing and recreational resort is located on the Continental Divide, 185 miles east of Whitehorse. The lodge offers it's guests a vast variety of activities: heli-hiking, canoeing, kayaking, photography, gold panning, general relaxation and some of the best fishing in Canada's North.Far removed from the hectic pace of everyday urban life, the lodge isn't even near a road!
|
The Lodge operates as a fly-out resort - the only way to get anywhere is via floatplane or helicopter, which you have use of during your stay. Imagine waking up in the morning, selecting a fishing or hiking spot on a map of the Yukon, and just minutes later, you are there with hundreds of square miles of wild Yukon country all to yourself.
Getting to the Lodge
After arriving in Whitehorse you will spend a night before heading on to Inconnu Lodge. Next morning, hop on board a chartered wheel aircraft and fly the last 180 miles to Inconnu Lodge, a 45 minute flight.
The Lodge
Built entirely of cedar, the main lodge is 6500 square feet, which includes the large dining room, conference room, lounge, bar, store, kitchen and laundry facility. The lounge has a beautiful vaulted ceiling that house a game tables, a pool table and a shuffle board table. A large sauna and hot tub await you by the lake, always a relaxing draw after a long Yukon day. The Lodge accommodates up to 12 guests in twin and triple rooms. Guest cabins are constructed of finished cedar, carpeted, and each with private washroom and shower facilities. The lodge generates it's own electricity (North American standard 110 volt power), operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Lodge Equipment
The lodge operates a Dehavilland Beaver float plane. The Beaver is known as the workhorse of the North for power and reliability. The aircraft is based at the Lodge full-time and is used for a variety of side trips that are offered. Inconnu Lodge also operates it's own Hughes 500 Helicopter. It is based right at the resort and will be utilized for Heli - Hiking, Heli-Fishing and Drift Trips.
On all Inconnu Lodge lakes we use 14-16 foot boats equipped with 15-25 horsepower motors. We also have two jet boats that make river and lake travel a breeze. Inconnu Lodge also offers guided helicopter float trips using Mariva inflatable rafts. The Lodge utilizes a variety of canoes to access some of the local rivers as well. A large amount of other quality equipment (waders, lifejackets, spare oars, backpacks, etc.) for hiking, fishing and other Lodge activities is kept at Inconnu in our large equipment shed to accommodate guest's needs.
Guides and Lodge Staff
All Inconnu Lodge guests are accompanied by a guide, intimately familiar with all areas around the Lodge - fishing holes, hiking trails, outpost cabins - as well as emergency procedures. One guide is usually assigned to groups two fisherman and four to six hikers.
