Explore Yukon's Arctic Regions north of the Arctic Circle. The Dempster Highway driving tour starts in Whitehorse and continues to the goldrush town of Dawson City - used to be known by the grandiose moniker 'Paris of the North'. Visit the restored old buildings, the goldfields and the Gold Dredge#4. Highight of the tour is the drive on the Dempster Highway to Inuvik. It is one of only three roads in the world to nudge into the Arctic Circle and trails along the foot of the Tombstone Range, passes through several First Nation towns, crosses the Peel and Mackenzie Rivers, before heading up the Mackenzie Delta to its end at the tiny town of Inuvik on the shore of the Beaufort Sea. In Inuvik you can learn about the aboriginal culture, wildlife and life at the arctic coast. Leave the Arctic region and travel on the "Silver Trail" to Mayo where you can explore the backcountry trails by ATV or hike Mt. Haldane. Passing clear blue lakes, mountain ranges, winding rivers and lush green valleys you arrive at Faro, tucked away in a mountainous setting in the Tintina Valley. Continue south on to Teslin, a picturesque lakeside community, where members of the Teslin Indian Band make up the majority of the residents. Fishing for lake trout or whitefish is excellent on Teslin Lake. After having explored the diverse regions of the Yukon Territory you return to Whitehorse.
