Mount Mye Hiking Tour
You will hike to the summit of Mount Mye and spend the first night on the top, should enough water be available. The second day will lead you through a broad alpine valley to the next camp on a ridge. The third day you will descend through forests and hit the road.
Rose Mountain Hiking Tour
This guided round trip will take you to the summit of Rose Mountain, a prime location for observing Fannin sheep, caribou and bear, not to mention the breathtaking views. This hike is demanding as you will have to hike through the bush and follow game trails before passing the tree line. Rose peak is the highest summit in the area.
Level of difficulty:
The two day trek is suitable for anybody in good shape and good health. The one-day hike requires a very good physical condition. The three day trek is suitable for anybody in good shape and good health. Some places are steep and you will encounter some loose rock fields. Most of the hike is taking place in the alpine tundra with great sceneries.
About Faro:
Faro is located 360 Km, about a 4 hour drive from Whitehorse. Take the Klondike Highway to Carmacks and then the Campbell Highway to Faro. The town is situated on the north side of the Tintina trench that marks the division of the two essential components of Yukon geology.
The rocks north-east of the trench are 300 to 1000 million years old, mainly sedimentary and represent the ancient North American margin. They were almost completely covered with glaciers during the last Ice Age. The terrain includes rolling uplands, groups of mountains and level tablelands dissected by deeply-cut broad valleys. The mountains south of the valley are sharp and high and more recent (20 to 300 million years). The Pelly river meanders trough the trench before flowing into the Yukon river about three hundred kilometers north-west from Faro.
