Discover Alaska & Yukon Van Tour
The most powerful words cannot describe the unrivaled wild beauty, and immense, almost uninhabited expanse, of the Yukon and Alaska. This round trip will reveal to you one of the last grand, completely wild spots of the world.

See Alaska from several perspectives:

- By ship through Kenai Fjords National Park, see the unique diversity of marine life.
- A bus shuttles us deep into the breathtaking mountain region of Denali National Park.
- During walking tours we will intimately experience the wilderness.
- By airplane we will fly over Kluane National Park with the largest non-polar ice fields.
- By passenger van we travel the highways and gravel roads of the high north.
Day 01 Whitehorse
Arrival in Whitehorse. Our guide will welcome you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel.

Day 02 Whitehorse - Dawson City
We will travel the Klondike Highway and reach Dawson City in the mid afternoon. Dawson City, the legendary capital of the 1898 Gold rush, is a living relic. After 100 years, miners here are still digging for gold. In the afternoon the Gold Miner Museum and the Jack London Cabin are on the program. In the evening you are at leisure to stroll the wooden sidewalks of Dawson City that looks like a western movie setting. (ca 550 km)

Day 03 Dawson City
In the morning we will visit the discovery claim on Bonanza Creek. In the afternoon you are at leisure to stroll the wooden boardwalks of Dawson City. For the evening we visit Diamond Tooth Gertie’s Gambling Hall. Long-legged can-can girls, honky-tonk piano player, poker, blackjack and roulette provides an “almost” genuine gold digger atmosphere.

Day 04 Dawson City - Tok
From the panoramic Midnight Dome we will have the opportunity to say goodbye to Dawson City. The overwhelming view from the top of the Dome reveals all the scars that a hundred years of searching for gold has left. The gravel road of the Top of the World Highway leads us through the sub-alpine tundra of the Alaskan mountain ranges to Tok. Tok is considered to be the sled-dog capital of Alaska. (ca 350 km)

Day 05 Tok - Fairbanks
The 2400 km long Alaska Highway was constructed through almost impenetrable wilderness in 1942 by the U.S. Army. This feat was accomplished in an unbelievable eight months. In North Pole we make a short stop to visit Santa Claus’ domicile. Christmas remains here year round. Fairbanks is a city founded in 1903/04 during an Alaskan Gold rush. Here during the afternoon and evening we will have free time. (ca 350 km)

Day 06 Fairbanks - Denali National Park
Leave today a
Fairbanks - Denali National Park. Shuttle buses take visitors, in ten-minute intervals, deep into the Denali National Park. We will ride the shuttle bus to the Eielson Visitor Center (8 hours return). Wilderness, solitude and impressive panoramic views surround the highest mountain in North America - Mt. McKinley. Bears, wolves, moose, caribous and many other wild animals are accustomed to the many visitors and can frequently be viewed from the road. (ca 200 km)

Day 07 Denali - Anchorage
Anchorage is the largest city of Alaska with about 300,000 inhabitants. Free time in the afternoon. (ca 380 km)

Day 08 Anchorage - Seward
From the Seward Highway we access the Kenai Peninsula, which offers a superior, and diversely unique landscape. High mountains with numerous glaciers extending into the ocean, sub-alpine tundra, and dense rainforest provide unforgettable impressions. After arriving in Seward we embark the "Alaskan Explorer" for a six hour cruise through the Kenai Fjords National Park. The marine life of the Fjord is abundant. Whales, sea lions, seals, sea otter and many rare seabirds can be spotted from the vessel. Floating icebergs descend from the nearby glacier fields. Facing the huge Holgate Glacier a deli-style seafood snack will be served. In the evening we have the opportunity to stroll for a few hours along the shore of the Kenai Fjord National Park. (ca 200

Day 09 Seward - Glennallen
Passing through the Matanuska Valley we may have a chance to admire the huge growing vegetables of this fertile valley. All the way to Glennallen offers constantly changing scenery and panoramic views of breathtaking beauty. (ca 510 km)

Day 10 Glennallen - Beaver Creek (ca 400 km)
Day 11: Beaver Creek - Haines Junction (ca 300 km)
For two days we travel along the northern border of the largest continuous protected area in the world: Wrangell and Kluane National Parks. Here we will cross the huge Copper River Basin. Many Alaskan travelers claim this to be the most impressive portion of their Alaskan journey. Marvelous is the scenery of the highest active volcano in Alaska. On clear days a light vapor cloud surrounds the summit of the 4700 meter Mount Wrangell. The majestic scenery of the Wrangell and Saint Elias Mountains accompanies us to Haines Junction.

* Optional Sightseeing
Sightseeing Flight Kluane NP Kuskawulsh Glacier approx CAD $170.00

Day 12 Haines Junction - Haines
Today we will have a light walking tour into the Kluane National Park on our program. As an alternate option we may take a helicopter flight to the 65 km long, double-tongued, Kaskawulch Glacier. On our way to Haines, Alaska we will cross the Chilkat Pass that was once controlled by the Coastal Tlingit Indians. Continuing on, we travel through the Bald Eagle Valley. This valley is inhabited by thousands of bald eagles feeding on salmon in November each year. Haines is considered to be one of the jewels of the South Alaska Panhandle. Here we will have the opportunity to admire the highly developed art of totem carving by coastal Indians. At Old Fort Seward we will be greeted by totem poles recounting ancient family tales. Three times a week Klingit dancers interpret old tribal legends. (ca 250 km)

Day 13: Haines - Skagway
During the morning we walk through the northern rainforest of the Chilkat State Park. In the afternoon we cross the Lynn Canal by ferry. This channel is the longest and deepest fjord of the world. After an hour we disembark in Skagway. During the historic gold rush of 1998, Skagway was the starting point for tens of thousands of adventures on their way to the gold fields of the Klondike. Most of the structures in the old section of town date back to this era.

Day 14: Skagway - Whitehorse
We stroll through Skagway in the morning. At noon we depart on the last leg of our tour to Whitehorse. The road is steep through the coastal mountains to the White Pass, the border crossing to the Yukon. As an option we have the opportunity to ride the historic train of the White Pass and Yukon route, on the steepest railroad of North America to the White Pass. Shortly past the community of Carcross we stop at the Carcross Desert - the smallest sand desert in the world. In the evening we enjoy a farewell drink together and recall the highlights of our trip.
