About Tagish Wilderness Lodge
Located on shores of Tagish Lake, just 50 miles south of Whitehorse. Established in 1993 the locally log-built lodge features living and dining room with small library and TV/VCR, showers and washing facility. Hand crafted log furniture and decorative indian crafts. Overnight accommodation in 4 comfortable log cabins with beds, chemical toilet, washing facilities, woodstove and beautiful lake view. A hot sauna is awaiting our guests. Nested in the vast spruce forests and the mountains of the Tagish Plateau this exceptional fly-in wilderness lodge provides soft adventure trips and tours and let you have a scenic look into the true Yukon wilderness.
During the winter month we offer dog mushing tours, snowmobiling and snowshoeing activities. At the lodge a team of 23 friendly huskies await the guests. Huskies have been in the Yukon for centuries. Indians as well as trappers, mailcarriers and goldrush pioneers drove their strong teams of huskies through the wilderness of Canada's true North. We're also housing a lot full of those marvelous animals. We offer hourly and daily dogmushing trips starting at the lodge and we introduce you to one of the finest sports on earth. If you are a novice to this sport we instruct you in how to handle sleds and dogs. During the scenic dogmushing trips we stop at picturesque places and abandoned trapper cabins. Enjoy a trip of your lifetime with our canine friends and harness 5 - 6 dogs in front of a sled and here we go! Drive your own husky team and follow the footsteps of Jack London. Our equipment is well maintained and professionally built. Don't take to much winter clothing with you. We provide all the bulky parka, overall and boots for a cool running with the dogs!
For our guests we provide cross-country skis and snowshoes in various sizes and qualities. Waxing equipment is also available at the lodge. Make your own slopes or follow our marked trails along the shoreline of Tagish Lake. Combine your activities above with aurora borealis watching. They can be seen on clear skies from August March. For those who like to explore the Yukon wilderness by snowmobiles we reserve for you some modern machines upon request ( 340 - 440 cc ). The mountains around the lodge vary from 3000 to 5500 ft. altitude and invites for short and extended snowshoe hiking trips. Combine a daily walk with wildlife watching and enjoy a breathtaking view over the scenic Southern Lakes District.
