"Yukon Quest" Sled Dog Race & Adventure Tour
Whitehorse - Dawson City - Whitehorse
Come and experience with a small group an unforgettable adventure - the famous "Yukon Quest" sled dog race. Watch the mushers and mush your own dog team on the Quest Trail. Enjoy the silence, listening to the slight sound of the working dogs and runners in the snow. Our itinerary includes four full days of dog sledding in Dawson and on the Takhini River, one day of snowmobiling in the Miners Range and ice-fishing on a frozen lake near Whitehorse.
Day 1 Arrival Whitehorse
Arrival in Whitehorse and transfer to your downtown hotel. Afterwards meet the group members to discuss the following days. In the afternoon you have time to discover downtown Whitehorse.

Day 2 Whitehorse - Dawson City
Enjoy the snowcovered landscape as we are driving on the Klondike Highway north to Dawson City. We pass Fox Lake were the record low temperature of - 64 degrees was measured a few years ago. The flair of Dawson City captures everyone, especially during winter time. Our hotel is located in downtown and we are in the center of the happenings. At night we may see the Northern Lights dancing across the night sky.

Day 3 Dawson City
We are awaiting the first mushers and their dog teams to arrive in Dawson. The anticipation is growing and people greet the mushers even in the middle of the night. Of course, we are there too. All mushers who arrived in Dawson have to take a mandatory 36 hour layover rest. This is a good opportunity to get to know the dog teams, talk to the mushers and to take pictures.

Day 4 Dawson City
After the visit of the "Dogcamp" on the opposite site of the river, we will mush our own sled dog team for a few hours. Accompanied by an experienced musher you will mush a dog team on the frozen Yukon River.

Day 5 Dawson City - Whitehorse
Today the front mushers will leave Dawson City to head for the second part of the race to Whitehorse. We also depart the goldrush town to mush for a few days our own dog team with Quest veteran Frank Turner. Of course, we do not want to miss the finish sprint in Whitehorse.

Day 6 Whitehorse /Dog Mushing
After a delicious breakfast we will be picked up for another day of dog mushing. The routing today leads along the original Quest trail, which is the Takhini and the Old Dawson Trail.

Day 7 Whitehorse / Dog Mushing
We enjoy another day of mushing our dog team.

Day 8 Whitehorse / Braeburn Checkpoint
We drive to Braeburn, the last checkpoint of the race before the finish line in Whitehorse. Here the mushers have to take a mandatory 8 hour break. They can enjoy a warm meal at the nearby lodge. The dogs are awaiting a heartful meal and a place to rest. By the way, the lodge serves the largest (and delicious) Cinnamon Buns of the world ! We spend the entire day around Braeburn and watch the activities. In the evening we drive back to our hotel in Whitehorse.

Day 9 Whitehorse
The excitement and anticipation is tremendous as we await the first musher to arrive in Whitehorse. The crowd at the finish line is guessing who will be first to cross the finish line.

Day 10 Whitehorse
We will watch additional mushers crossing the finish line. Today we take a short hike along the Yukon River to the world's largest wooden fishladder. The salmon have to pass the fishladder in order to get to their spawning grounds.

Day 11 Whitehorse / Snowmobiling
Today we take a snowmobile tour across the snowcovered landscape of the Miners Mountain Range. Helmets and warm drinks are a must ! After getting to know the powerful machines we experience by ourselves why this is the favourite winter activity of the people in the Yukon.

Day 12 Whitehorse
To sympathize the life of a musher we will mush a dog team today. For the last time we get to experience the scenic winter wonderland of the Yukon Territory. By now we are so comfortable with our dog team that maybe one of us is considering a career as musher!

Day 13 Whitehorse.
Today you can spend the day at your leisure. Maybe you wish to shop for some souvenirs, visit the SS Klondike or the frozen Miles Canyon. In the evening we will meet for the Finish-Banquet, serving a delicious, warm buffet.

Day 14 Whitehorse / Ice-fishing
To give our exciting vacation a relaxed finish we learn today the skill of a typical winter activity in the Yukon - ice fishing on a thick frozen lake ! Lake trouts, daces, grayling and pikes can be found here. You can also try snowshoeing this afternoon.

Day 15 Departure.
After checking out of the hotel you will be transfered to the airport.
* Please note: we may need to alter the tour routing depending on the race status.
